January 2000
Y2K My Ass!

Dear Constant Reader:
The much anticipated Y2K crisis is well behind us and, as you know: nothing happened. I for one was terribly disappointed that a complete technological breakdown did not ensue at the turning of the Millennial Clock. I came home from my New Year's show at three am to find the TV broadcasting the usual litany of mind-numbing infomercials, Jenny Jones reruns (as if the first time wasn't bad enough) and Backstreet Boys videos. I thought to myself: we were worried about losing this? It was enough to make one long for Armageddon.
A lot will be going on for me in the virgin months of this new century. I’ll start off by flying out to Boston to play on the new Barbara Kessler CD. After that, I head on up to Santa Cruz, CA to open for The Bobs. I'll do the first show of the year with the Malone band at the Baked Potato here in Hollyweird on January 18, and then I embark on a month-long tour across the Midwest all the way out to Charlestown, SC, where I will play at the Budweiser Lowcountry Blues Bash. In addition, we are slouching toward the completion of the 3rd Bob Malone CD.
In conclusion, I’d just like to say thanks to Al Green and all the wonderful people at House of Blues for letting me be part of their New Year's Eve show – it was a great way to start the year! Also thanks to NPR’s Car Talk for using my music in one of their recent shows, and most of all, thanks to all of you for your continued support.
See you soon(er or later)…
Love, Bob
