July 2009 Review Bob Malone Producer: Bob DeMarco Summary: The presence of first-call players like Leland Sklar, Chris Trujillo and Marty Rifkin, plus stellar guitar work from producer DeMarco alongside the artist’s New Orleans drenched piano, raises the bar for this troubadour. It is contrasting elements – the staccato toughness of horn-driven tracks against an open veined lyrical clarity – that ignite a fearsome chemistry.
